What would you do with Bow Church?

Bow Space competition

Call for entries to use our church space.

Are you a local individual, group, or organisation looking for an inspiring and affordable space in the heart of Bow?

Bow Church is a historic building in a well-connected location, with an interior 200m2 (2200ft2) of flexible space.  Our church is open to everyone and can offer an adaptable space for a variety of activities that contribute to our diverse local community, whilst staying compatible with it’s primary purpose as a place of worship.

We are looking for new regular activities to take place within our building, and are working with the Empowering Design Practices research project to offer the opportunity to pilot new activities in the space.

Tell us how you would use the space, and win the chance for a funded trial of your activity during our 11 May Community Day.

Finalists will be invited to host a taster session for us and members of the public on Saturday 11th of May 2019. A small budget of £200 will be awarded to help run the taster session, which can last up to 2 hours.

Register to take part using the survey monkey form available here.

Meet us to see the space: 16th March 2019 1000 – 1200 (other dates might be possible)

Contact us with any questions: bowspacecompetition@gmail.com

Deadline for entries: DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 12:00 on 3rd of April 2019.

All applicants will be informed of the outcome by 5th April 2019.

Empowering Design Practices (empoweringdesign.net) is a research project exploring how community-led design can help empower those who look after historic places of worship to create more open, vibrant and sustainable places that respect and enhance their heritage.

The project is a collaboration between The Open University, The Glass-House Community Led Design, Historic England, Heritage Lottery Fund, and the Historic Religious Buildings Alliance, working with consultants Wright & Wright Architects, Live Works and Becky Payne. Empowering Design Practices is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, under their Connected Communities and Design highlight notice.
