Education and training

The project has a significant element of offering learning opportunities in order to build capacity in design and design research among communities as well as professionals. We have offered Design Training to communities, and have interacted with Masters students as part of the Live Projects activity. We are currently planning the delivery of a 2-day training course for architects. We are also developing an open online course on community-led design.

Training for architects: community-led design in historic faith buildings
Between 9-10 July 2019 we delivered a 2-day free course in London for architects interested in working with community clients in the context of historic places of worship. The course introduced community-led design and explored the role and potential of architects in helping community clients build their capacity to deliver meaningful and innovative projects. We looked at the specific sensitivities and challenges of working with historic places of worship, and provided inspiration and practical tools to help architects develop engagement strategies with their clients.
