Learning from professionals

As part of our research on the current practice of supporting historic places of worship and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, we are engaging with professionals who work with community projects to help them realise their projects. This includes conservation architects, heritage experts, community and development support officers and regeneration managers, amongst others.

Much of our interaction comes by inviting professionals into our project activities, such as visits to past projects or workshops to support new initiatives, as well as through our participation in relevant external events and conferences. We are also organising bespoke activities to facilitate peer reflection and learning.

Activity spotlight:

Focus group with architects and Historic England support officers
This activity was held in November 2015 in London and was attended by 15 professionals who brought their diverse expertise and rich experiences in the table. The aim was to elicit the practitioners' perspectives on the challenges in current practice and examine existing and new resources and ways in which these challenges can be overcome.

You can read the report from the focus group in a blog post by Dr Katerina Alexiou.
