Before embarking on a project, it’s useful to explore what design can do, and to prepare for working effectively with your architect. These resources have been designed to help you do this.

EXPLORE DESIGN: Community Buildings
Design can help you explore your building and make it a better place that meets your aspirations and needs. The Explore Design resource is a highly visual website that will help you to explore and understand the design of community buildings through a number of key themes.

DESIGN TRAINING: FILM 
Developing a basic understanding of design and the design process is useful for any group aspiring to lead changes in their building. This film takes you through our Design Training workshop exploring ways in which  community groups can unlock place potential.

This booklet is for community groups seeking to appoint an architect and to understand the various ways this can be done. It provides some basic information on what to look for in the person and practice you commission, as well as what you can do to prepare as a community-based commissioning client.
