Workshop: Using film as a tool for engagement in your design process

Have you thought about making your own film or commissioning a film to benefit your place and enhance your design process?
In this free workshop we'll explore how groups working to improve a historic place of worship for wider community use can use film as a tool for engaging people, mobilising support and communicating the value and impact of your community, faith and heritage spaces.
Led by filmmaker and media producer Tot Foster and the Empowering Design Practices team, you’ll get the chance to:
Providing a source of inspiration for what the power of community can achieve, the workshop will be held at the oldest building in Bristol, the Grade I listed St James Priory, a place rescued from disrepair which now supports healing, heritage and hospitality, hosting services and activities particularly for people during difficult periods in their lives.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day. Travel bursaries of up to £100 are available to those attending, for travel on standard class tickets only. Claim forms will be available on the day of the workshop so please ensure you retain all travel receipts.

- Learn how to develop the concept for a film
- Get practical advice and top tips to build your confidence as a creator or commissioner of film
- Get hands-on experience of filmmaking using your smartphone
